The National Register of Dog Trainers and Behaviourists

Welcome to I Train Dogs -  the National Register of UK Dog Trainers and Behavioursts

An independent not-for-profit community

There is no doubt that everyone would like a well trained dog.  But how best to find a dog trainer? Finding someone to help you train your dog or a canine behaviourist for more complicated problems has always been difficult.  There are thousands of websites with hundreds of dog trainers at all levels of experience each saying they have the answers to your particular behaviour problem. How do you choose?

Some say: 'You can always get two dog trainers to agree - that a third is doing it wrong' but in fact, most of them are actually doing it right: they each just have a different approach!  For every dog is different as is every owner- so each problem, even though it may be common, is likely to be unique and will have a unique solution.  Basic training is straight forward but once bad habits are picked up they can be difficult to unpick . Good dog trainers and canine behaviourists recognise this, will work with you and your dogs as individuals - and not try to apply a quick and easy 'fix'.  I Train Dogs provides you with the information you need to make a sensible and realistic decision.

The National Register of Dog Trainers and Behaviourists does not make judgements about techniques or methods.  Here the members of this not-for-profit community simply set out their experience, knowledge and expertise in canine behaviour, indicating their specialisms and allowing you to make up your own mind as to whether they will suit your particular circumstances.

All members of the community are professionals and they have signed up to the Code of Best Practice which was agreed in a series of meetings hosted by the Companion Animal Welfare Council. (You can read the code by clicking on the 'Links' tab in the left hand column of this Home Page).

Those names with an 'arrow' symbol (>) have provided extended details about their knowledge and experience.
